JCL is an organization called the Junior Classical League. The organization is sponsored by the American Classical League and includes middle and high school students. It is composed of state and local chapters and is the largest classical organization in the world today. Its purpose it to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart and understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of Classical antiquity. | Jenny Fields |

Students are assigned a country to represent at the MUN conference in Murfreesboro in November. The conference is run by the Middle Tennessee YMCA Center for Civic Engagement. The students prepare bills and perform other governmental duties in Nashville during a conference in February. Ukranian Connections

Robotics Team FRC

Under strict rules, limited time and resources, our FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team is challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," develop teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors from around the world. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide the team. Fall semester (preseason): Mondays and Thursday 3:45-5:30pm Spring semester: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays 3:45-5:30pm plus Saturdays. Planning meetings during lunch/club time. Open to all students in grades 8-12, but team members must meet minimum training, attendance, and service requirements. We're willing to work with student athletes or those with busy spring schedules to allow full participation. Team members are expected to attend at least two competitions (one local and one travel). Team members are responsible for travel (hotel, meals, etc.) and uniform purchase. |

Spartans for Political Awareness is a club centered around the exchange of ideas and political ideologies among students at Webb. A topic is set for every meeting and a member gives a short, unbiased presentation on the facts, statistics, and points of views surrounding the chosen topic. Afterwards, club members discuss their own points of view and exchange in a friendly, all-inclusive debate about the issue. Topics include legislative actions, economic policy, international incidents, constitutional interpretations, and anything of interest to the club. | Mari Low |

Emerald Youth Connections

Each Wednesday, members will meet at Emerald Youth to provide homework help to the after school program for Emerald Academy. This would last from 4-6 and also once a month there will be an option to stay until 8 to serve dinner before their bible study. We will occasionally have lunch meetings to meet with speakers from Emerald Youth, who will share their personal experiences and how the organization affected their lives. Through this club, students could not only earn community service hours but also give Webb students an opportunity to connect with these children. Mindfulness Club

Students and faculty practice different mindfulness techniques to cultivate a sense of calm and well being. Mindfulness helps reduce stress while improving our ability to focus. Instead of following ever-changing thoughts or outside stimulus, we practice awareness of our experience here and now, and do so with kindness and compassion. Mindfulness is an intentional state of focused, nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment.
