Specialty & Sports Camps

At Camp Webb there is a lesson to be learned around every corner – at the top of the climbing wall, on the archery range, walking along a wooded trail, on the basketball court. All of these lessons help prepare your children to make better life decisions while they’re having fun.

Sports Camps 2019

Campers work hard, have fun, learn new skills, and perfect the old ones. Camp Webb’s coaching staff includes former professional-level players, local private coaches, current Webb School coaches, and other local high school coaches. All Sports Camps run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campers who cannot be picked up by 2:15 p.m. may enroll in our fun Aftercare program or participate in one of our Mini Camps.

Specialty Camps 2019

If you’re looking for a camp featuring a specific interest, our Specialty Camps are for you. We are proud of our wide range of Specialty Camp offerings and are very excited about our new additions this summer. From rockets to cooking, campers will be led by our enthusiastic leaders and wrapped up in summer fun. Our very own Webb School teachers direct many of these programs. All Specialty Camps run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.Campers who cannot be picked up by 2:15 p.m. may enroll in our fun Aftercare program or participate in one of our Mini Camps.

  • Boom! It's Game Time

    Date: July 22-26 (Week 7)

    Are you game for an awesome week led by the dynamic duo of Coach Montgomery and Mrs. Jarmon? BOOM! It’s Game Time! Would you like to rule in “Ultimate Domination,” snatch some loot from the opponent’s treasure chest or block your opponent’s pinball shot on the scooter board? Join this high-energy, high-action week that will be jam- packed with your favorite P.E. games. Cost: $230 
  • Boys' Lacrosse Camp

    Dates: June 10-14 (Week 2)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Boys entering grades 6-10
    Director: Rico Silvera, Webb head varsity boys’ lacrosse coach

    Whether you’re just picking up a stick or you are already an impact player looking to take your skills to the next level, this week of lacrosse is exactly what you need to improve your game. The day will be packed with drills, scrimmages and fun games, focusing on the basic skills or improving the fundamentals and specific skills required for a young player to excel at any level of competition. Coaching focus and drills will be specific to the individual positions in lacrosse, including attack, midfield, longstick defense, goalkeeper, and face-off specialist. Individual fundamental skills will be merged into advanced team concepts, including help defense, transition and settled offense. Through drills, we’ll build and create a fun, instructive and competitive atmosphere where players can progress to understanding and executing critical lacrosse team concepts. This camp combines both individual skills and team concepts in a fun but demanding environment. Cost: $225 Does not include equipment. 
  • Champs Camp

    Crank your summer up a notch with Champs Camp! Flag football, basketball, whiffleball, soccer, dodgeball games, Olympics, and more will bring the sports fun your camper
    is looking for on the court and field. Coach Kevin Julian will guide campers on the fundamentals of these sports, organizing plenty of games in addition to reinforcing good, competitive play. Sign your champ up now for a week of sports for champions! Cost: $225 
  • Cheer, Stunt & Tumble- FULL

    Go Camp Webb! Campers will be trained in the fundamentals as they learn motions, cheers, chants, and stunts. Separated into groups according to age and ability, campers will work on individual skills and group dynamics. Coach Roark has a
    wealth of experience, including 17 years as a cheerleading coach, a Junior Olympics qualification and multiple state championship appearances. She will be assisted by daughters and former Adventure Camp counselors Tascha Roark Fyke and Kelsye Roark Shell. Make sure to bring your spirit! Cost: $235 
  • Clash of the Titans

    Dates: June 24-28 (Week 4)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Entering grades 2-6

    Back by popular demand – a week of everyone’s favorite games. Campers will participate in Poison Ball tournaments inside and then head outdoors to play favorites like Capture the Flag and flag football. Variations on Poison Ball will be played with Gator Skin balls (non-sting). Please make sure to wear sneakers and bring a water bottle. Cost: $235 
  • Football/ Basketball Camp

    Tired of focusing on just one sport? Want to be a well-rounded athlete? Join Coach David Meske and Coach Ricky Norris for a week of football and basketball improvement. We’ll concentrate on individual skill development and each camper’s ability to play within a team structure. Cost: $235 
  • Get Your Game On!

    Dates: June 24-28 (Week 4)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Entering grades 1-3

    What could be better than spending the entire day playing games? Coach Montgomery will lead your child on a thrill ride, featuring some of our campers’ favorite games, plus some brand-new activities. Expect the return of the scooter board games, parachute activities and games with the Kin-Ball. Activities will take place indoors and outdoors. Cost: $235 
  • Girls' Soccer Camp: Soccerpalooza

    Dates: July 8-12 (Week 5)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Girls entering kindergarten-5th grade

    This camp is a fun-filled week of total soccer. Campers will be taught technical as well as tactical skills necessary in the game of soccer. Through fun games and competitions, campers will not only improve their soccer skills, but will also have a great time making new friends and increasing their love for the game. Cost: $230 
  • Gymnastics Galore- FULL

    Do you love to do back walkovers and roundoffs? Get ready for a week of the balance beam, rolls, handstands, and more! Coach Roark is certified to coach gymnastics and has instructed young gymnasts for more than 19 years. She will be assisted by daughters and former Adventure Camp counselors Tascha Roark Fyke and Kelsye Roark Shell. Coach Roark will group campers by age and ability to teach the fundamentals. Join us for a week of fun and flexibility! Cost: $235 
  • Meske Football Camp

    Dates: June 17-21 (Week 3)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Entering grades 1-5
    Director: David Meske, Webb head varsity football coach and athletic director

    It’s football time at Camp Webb! Coach Meske and his staff will guide campers through all the basics of beginning football while keeping in mind that each child is unique and develops at his/her own pace. This program stresses lessons of value that reach far beyond the playing field, such as: self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, and leadership. This camp is non-contact, but hard work. Campers will need to bring cleats. Cost: $230 
  • Nothin' But Net: Basketball Camp

    Dates: July 15-19 (Week 6)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Boys entering grades 3-5
    Director: Ricky Norris, Webb head varsity boys’ basketball coach and Upper School dean of students

    The Nothin’ But Net basketball camp is designed specifically to teach younger players the basic fundamentals of basketball. Camp staff members will create a competitive basketball environment that is designed to allow each camper the opportunity to improve his skills during the week. Campers will also be taught the value of sportsmanship and how to accept winning and losing. Our hope is that each camper develops an excitement for sports and an appreciation for being part of a team. Cost: $225 
  • Spartan Spirit Cheer & Dance

    Dates: July 8-12 (Week 5)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Girls entering grades 3-6
    Director: Susie Norris, Webb varsity cheer and dance team coach

    Go, Green, Go! Get the full Spartan Spirit experience during this week of learning the basics of being on both a cheer squad and a dance team. Coach Norris has over 20 years of coaching experience. She is an NCA instructor and has choreographed for school, All-Star and college programs. Each camp day will be filled with cheers, stunts, dances, tumbling, technical class, hip-hop, jazz pom, sign making, and teamwork activities.
    The week will culminate with a pep rally for the rest of Camp Webb. This camp is great preparation for someone interested in cheering and dancing in middle school.

    Campers will participate in tennis drills, learn to keep score and play! They will also
    enjoy our tennis-themed games, which will help develop athletic skills and coordination. Players are grouped according to skill level and age. Coach Pitkanen and his staff will lead campers through an exciting and rewarding week. Campers will also enjoy some time at the pool. Cost: $225 
  • Volleyball Camp

    Dates: July 22-26 (Week 7)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Girls entering grades 5-8
    Director: Deidre Keeble, local private coach

    Campers are trained on the fundamentals of volleyball, including spiking, serving and passing. Team concepts will also be incorporated into individual skills training. Coach Keeble, along with Webb’s state championship coaches, will teach campers to apply the skills required in games and competitions during all 5 days of this camp. This is a great opportunity to learn and continue to develop the fundamentals of volleyball within a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Cost: $225 
  • Webb Basketball Camp

    Dates: July 15-19 (Week 6)

    Webb Basketball Camp has been recognized as one of the best basketball fundamentals camps in the area. Camp enrollment is limited to achieve a 1:8 coach-to-player ratio. Players learn individual drills that will enhance performance. Campers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend; however, participants should have a serious desire to become better basketball players. Cost: $230 
  • Webb Soccer Camp

    Dates: July 22-26 (Week 7)
    Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Ages: Entering grades 5-8
    Director: Jared Ziegler, Webb head varsity boys’ soccer coach and Upper School teacher

    Players practice individual skill drills and learn team concepts through on-field work and video sessions that will enhance performance. This camp is great preparation for someone interested in playing soccer in middle school or high school. Coach Ziegler has been coaching and teaching at Webb for 5 years. He has earned 2 state soccer championships and PrepXtra Coach of the Year honors in his time with the program. Coach Ziegler graduated from and played soccer at Wofford College (2009 regular season
    and tournament champions, and NCAA tournament participant). Wofford recognized him in 2016 as its soccer alumnus of the year. Campers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend; however, participants should have a serious
    desire to become better soccer players. Campers should bring cleats, shin guards and sneakers. Cost: $230

    skills and fundamentals will be taught, including shooting technique, ball handling, passing and catching, footwork, and defense. Offensive skills for post and guard positions are emphasized as well. Lady Spartan players will assist; they will also entertain the campers with skits galore! Mark your calendar for this week of basketball “where learning is fun and winning is in the details.” Cost: $225

    Back by popular demand and celebrating the joys of being girls who love dolls! Ladies, get ready for a dynamic week of crafts, stories, games, and activities inspired by the American Girl dolls. We’ll have adventurous fun each day, focusing on a particular doll and all the action that surrounds each story. You and your new friends will participate in lessons ranging from creative thinking to science, friendship to leadership. Join us for a great week of girl time!   • Animal Art

    Campers learn about the fundamental concepts of art while exploring one of their favorite subjects! Building on what we already know about animals, we will further explore animal structures and environments in order to abstract and invent several of our own paper animal sculptures.     Can you escape a desert island, stop the zombie apocalypse and solve history’s greatest mysteries – all in one week? Only at Breakout Camp! Like the increasingly popular escape rooms, campers will work together to solve puzzles and “breakout” of a variety of scenarios before the timer ends, all the while developing teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills. At the end of the week, campers will work in groups to create and share their own breakout games. Cost: $240 
  • Camp Hogwarts™

    Calling all Muggles! Summer is coming and that means it’s time for CAMP HOGWARTS™! First Years, find out which house you’re assigned to in the sorting hat ceremony. Bond with your prefects and housemates. Make chocolate frogs. Test your skills in potions class. Visit Hogsmeade. Frolic with mystical creatures. And help your house battle for the Quidditch and House Cups. (Last year, Ravenclaw caught the snitch for victory and Hufflepuff took home the coveted House Cup!) Join your fellow witches and wizards as we use all seven books to guide us through a magical week of Pottermania! Cost: $265 Note: Buddy requests are not honored in this camp.   • Chess Camp

    Do you love chess and want to improve your game? Then join Leonard Dickerson for a week of strategic learning. The
    first week is mainly for chess players
    who may not have played much, competitively. Campers work on piece mechanics, opening strategies, tactics, and general principles. The complexity of the material covered depends upon the skill level of the campers. The second week is for players who have ideally participated in tournaments or a previous camp, and would like to improve their tournament play. Those in the Intermediate/Advanced Camp work on understanding combinations, critical endgame techniques, positional analysis, and
    team play. In both camps, there will be an ongoing tournament. At each camp’s completion, each camper will receive a personal evaluation, as well as a chess set (if needed) or book. Cost: $230 
  • Code Mania- Week 5- FULL

In Code Mania, participants will learn how to code (write a computer program) and develop problem-solving and logic skills by engaging in exciting, dynamic projects that they can share with family and friends. We will even code robots and drones to complete fun challenges designed by our campers. This camp is not only for summer fun, but also for those who want to explore coding in the future.   • Comic Book Camp

    and customs. This camp will inspire a love of food and cooking while exploring the globe without a passport or luggage! Cost: $230 
  • Coolest Summer Hang-Out Ever

    If you want to design a bottle rocket ship and launch it into the air, go exploring in the woods, and play some really fun sportsand games, then Coach Owen’s Coolest Summer Hang-Out EVER! is the perfect camp for you. We’ll also do a whole bunch of extra activities, including: swimming, Top Trumps (themed card games from England), drawing, and a variety of
    student favorite gym games, such as Yoshi, Pirate’s Gold and Star Wars Rebel Assault. We’ll play some Capture the Flag, kickball and a variety of sports, and cool off with popsicles and storytelling. Of course, no boy’s coolest week ever would be complete without shooting cans and balloons at our BB range (goggles, BB rifles and NAA and BSA certified safety instruction provided). Cost: $250 
  • Coolest Summer Hang-Out Ever- Part II

    The coolness continues with a second week of summer fun! Whether it is your first week in one of Coach Owen’s camps or you are coming back for more, this week will be packed with non-stop activities! With new games, new crafts, different magic tricks, stories, and
    a fresh box of popsicles, the conditions are set for the lads to have a fantastic week of our favorite games and activities, including the ever-popular BB range. There is an exciting new feature at the BB range: “The Pendulum of Doom” – a large cluster of target items, such as shaken-up two-liter sodas, water balloons, etc., that swings from side to side.
    The boys will shoot from a safe distance while wearing safety goggles and will be under the care and supervision of a NAA and BSA range-certified instructor. Add an optional swimming session, a few outdoor sports, and the week is sure to be a fun one! Cost: $250 
  • Crafting in the Kitchen- FULL

    Delicious things can happen when creativity, ingenuity and a spark for tasty treats are mixed together. From experienced cooks to novice pastry chefs, this camp promises something for everyone who enjoys eating their own kitchen concoctions. Following a recipe is where we’ll begin on our journey to a five-star-rated, kid-friendly dish that can be replicated without adult supervision. Our dishes will be coupled with crafts, sure to elevate any chef’s culinary expertise. Grab your apron and paintbrush, dish towel and glitter, mixing bowl and scissors, as we craft up a week of kitchen fun! Cost: $240

We will spend the week making different arts and crafts using many different media, including glass dish painting, finger knitting a scarf, crocheting wash cloths and scrubbies, basic silk screen design, macramé, book making, and more. We’ll also make leaf tokens, tornadoes and survival rafts, test groovy lava lamps, and learn lots of magic science tricks. The group will be divided into two teams, Jedi and Sith, for various large-scale battles. Are you ready to rise in the ranks of the Jedi or will you claw your way to the top of the Sith Empire?   • Printmaking Camp

    Learn a variety of printmaking techniques, including monoprint (paintings on plexiglass transferred with a printmaking press), linoleum cuts, woodcuts, and lithography. Experiment with the color and immediacy of monoprints. Campers can use portable painting easels to paint outside landscape pictures, then make a series of prints based on their paintings. Work from your imagination or do a large self-portrait. Also, help create a mega-woodcut print. Cost: $240

    Sewing is not only a useful skill to have, it’s also a lot of fun! In this camp, you will learn to sew by hand, as well as on a sewing machine. You’ll make a large pillow, a pillowcase, a small hand-sewn stuffed animal, and an eye pillow. Basic sewing techniques, as well as how to use your machine, will be taught. No sewing experience is required. All materials are provided, but you must bring a sewing machine. Cost: $230

Lunch:
Tired of getting up every morning and throwing together lunches in a lunch box? We provide lunch and it’s included in the cost of all camps! Campers and staff cool off together in the cafeteria and enjoy a nutritious, hot lunch. We also offer a salad bar, fresh fruit, and the trusty peanut butter and jelly sandwich. In addition, we are a “nut-aware” camp, and work with families when children have specific allergic conditions.

Nurse:
A nurse is on site and available every day of the Camp Webb season. Our nurse will call you if your camper comes to visit and requires more than minor medical attention. The nurse is here to dispense medication when required, provide first-level health care if needed, and TLC all the time! Our ultimate goal is to be proactive and to practice prevention by safeguarding against accidents and illness as much as possible.
 
Extended Camp Day Options - Aftercare:
Campers who cannot be picked up at the end of their camps may stay for extended supervision for an additional charge. Aftercare provides a variety of activities for campers during their afternoon time. Campers are put into groups according to grade and enjoy a rotation of varied activities including sports, arts & crafts, and more!
