Webb Students’ Scores on National French Exams Rank in the Top 10 in Tennessee and Nation

Eighth grader Gabriella Geyer-Kim earns Lauréat National-Platinum Medal for perfect score.

Webb School’s French students carried on their proud tradition of earning top-level scores in the annual National French Exams with the reporting of this year’s results. An impressive number of Upper and Middle School French scholars took high honors and ranked in the top 10 both nationally and statewide.

Approximately 75,000 students of French, nationwide and abroad, took part in the 2019 le Grand Concours competition. This annual contest tests students’ listening, comprehension and grammar in French, and their cultural knowledge of francophone countries.

In the high school-level exam, 15 Webb Upper School students placed in the top 10 in the state of Tennessee and of those 15, 10 Upper Schoolers’ scores ranked among the top 10 in the nation.

The following Webb Upper School students earned a Gold Medal for placing in the 95th percentile of all test takers in their respective levels:

In Webb’s Middle School, 19 seventh and eighth graders earned recognition and a significant number of those students earned scores that ranked in the top ten nationally and/or in the state of Tennessee.

Webb eighth graders participated in the LEVEL 1 test, competing against middle and high school students enrolled in French 1 – approximately 18,000 students, nationwide.

  • Gabriella Geyer-Kim was awarded a Lauréat National-Platinum Medal for earning a perfect score and the highest in the nation.
     
  • Sol Schoenbach-Lee received a Lauréat National-Gold Medal for placing in the 95th percentile of all test takers and earning the second highest score in the nation.

The following eighth graders earned the distinction of ranking in the top 85th-90th percentile and were presented with a Lauréat National-Silver Medal:

  • Izzy Geyer-Kim
    7th highest score in the nation

Lauréat National-Bronze Medal (75th-80th percentile) honors were presented to:

Webb’s seventh grade French students were among the 5,000-plus middle schoolers, nationwide, to participate in the LEVEL 01 test.
