The Tennessee Scholastic Lacrosse Association (TSLA) announced that Webb senior lacrosse player Clay Simmons has been named the 2019 Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the TSLA Division 2 Private School classification for boys’ high school lacrosse.
Simmons is the second Spartan player to earn this distinction in the two-year history of the TSLA award. Morgan Ernst ’18 won Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018.
This latest announcement comes on the heels of an outstanding 2018-2019 season for the Spartan lacrosse team that included an 8-5 record and a 6-2 record in classification. In addition, Webb qualified for the TSLA state playoffs for the 15th consecutive year and garnered its fifth (third in three years) TSLA D2 region championship.
Simmons and junior teammate Luc Nadaud were named to this year’s All-State list, marking Nadaud’s third straight All-State honor and Simmons’ second. Simmons was also nominated for TSLA Offensive Player of the Year, while Nadaud represented Webb’s Spartan lacrosse team at this year’s TSLA All-Star game.
Both Simmons and Nadaud, along with fellow Spartan Sam Beall ’21, are nominees for the Knox News Sports Awards' Lacrosse Player of Year.
