Spartan seniors Jaylon Green and Luke Lentz have inked their intentions to carry on their basketball careers at the collegiate level. Webb School of Knoxville hosted celebration ceremonies for the two players November 22.

Jaylon Green, a four-year varsity player and three-year starter for the Spartans as point guard, has committed to continue his basketball career at Maryville College. Green was a key contributor toward helping his team win its first-ever Division II-A state championship in 2019. Co-captain of this year’s squad, he earned All-District honors his sophomore and junior seasons.

Head Webb varsity boys’ basketball coach, Ricky Norris, praised Green’s skills and proficiency in his role. “Jaylon is a traditional point guard,” notes Norris, “in that while he can score, he also sets his teammates up to be better versions of themselves. I would say that Jaylon is one of the best point guards in East Tennessee.”

Combo guard and team co-captain Luke Lentz signed with Anderson University. After transferring to Webb School and becoming eligible to play his junior year, Lentz made an immediate impact on the Spartan program with his ability to shoot the basketball, picking up All-District kudos last season. “Luke is an ELITE high school shooter,” says Norris. He also commended Lentz for his strong work ethic, adding that “Luke has spent as much time in the gym as any kid I’ve ever coached.”
