Lady Spartan dynasty continues with historic 10-peat; Spartan boys fight to win third state team title in a row.
Webb School’s varsity girls’ and boys’ tennis teams swept this year’s TSSAA Spring Fling Division II-A state team championships in Murfreesboro with both squads bringing home the state team championship trophies.
The Lady Spartans (18-2) cruised to their tenth straight state team crown with a 4-0 victory over St. George’s in the championship match, May 22, at Old Fork Park’s Adams Tennis Complex. Junior Audrey Yoon defeated St. George’s Hannah Howell, 6-1, 6-0, in No. 1 singles. Classmate Carina Dagotto won her No. 2 singles match, 6-1, 6-2, while in No. 3 singles, senior Caroline Ross took the match, 6-1, 6-0. With a 6-2, 6-1 victory for No. 4 singles player Lili Roth ’21, Webb sealed the team victory and another place in the state history books.
The Spartan boys (13-5) clinched a grueling 4-2 win over Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) to win their third state team championship in a row.
With Webb leading 3-0 after straight-set victories by Webb’s Harrison Williams ’20 (No. 2 – 6-2, 6-0), Ben Aikens ’19 (No. 4 – 6-2, 6-0) and Austin Rhea ’21 – 6-3, 6-1), CAK rallied back with two three-set singles victories, pushing championship play to the two doubles matches.
Spartan No. 2 doubles duo Ohm Sharma ’19 and Wilder Dewhirst ’23 went on two defeat CAK’s Reed Bristow and Davis Brady, 8-3, to lock up the state title.

At today’s girls’ and boys’ state singles and doubles tournaments, Audrey Yoon will take on St. George’s Hannah Grace Howell in the state singles semifinal, while doubles partners Lili Roth and Delaney Bone ’22 will face Ashlyn Melton and Alex Pachciarz of Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) in semifinal play. Lady Spartan doubles duo Caroline Ross and Carina Dagotto will play the winner of the University School of Jackson vs. MTCS quarterfinal.
In boys’ singles play, Ohm Sharma will play against Christ Presbyterian Academy’s Nathan Irwin in the state semifinal. Ben Aikens and Harrison Williams will take on Evangelical Christian School doubles partners Josh McCalla and Hamilton Jackson in the semifinal.
