where creativity comes alive

The arts are a powerful means of communication; one that evolves with our students from their earliest years through graduation.  Our rich, dynamic roster of arts offerings sets the stage for students to uncover, develop, and share their artistic passions. In Lower School, creativity begins with joyful exploration and expression. In Middle School, students deepen their skills while grasping new concepts, and grow into their creative voices. By Upper School, they're producing and performing with confidence, refining their talents and engaging thoughtfully with the world. At every stage, students take ownership of their creativity, shining a light on their distinct potential.

In Lower School, creativity is infused into everyday learning. Students dive into art and music through hands-on experimentation, trying new materials and techniques, developing essential skills, and exploring a world of cultures and traditions. General music classes promote rhythm, melody, and movement, while visual arts spark imagination and creative expression. Grade-level performances and a lively clubs program also provide plenty of chances for students to shine, share, and flourish.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School students progress as creators and performers through daily immersive arts classes. Beginning with an exploratory program, sixth graders sample various disciplines before choosing theater arts, band, chorus, visual arts, or strings. After selecting a concentration, students are led by experienced, passionate teachers as they sharpen techniques, broaden their creative thinking, and bring ideas to life. Showcasing their work through performances, exhibitions, and regional competitions cultivates pride in their progress and confidence in their abilities.

In Upper School, students push their creativity further through heightened exploration, advanced technique, and bold expression. With a broad selection of visual and performing arts courses available – including Honors and AP options – students are challenged to think critically, experiment freely, and amplify their artistic voice. Exhibitions, performances, and competitions provide impactful, real-world experience, whether working solo or as part of an ensemble. For many, what begins as an interest becomes a meaningful pursuit that shapes their identity and future path.

Webb’s Artist-in-Residence Program brings the professional art world directly to campus, offering students a unique window into the creative process and life of a working artist.

Since 2002, this four-to-six-week teaching and learning experience has welcomed acclaimed artists from across the United States and around the globe. Over the course of their residency, visiting artists lead collaborative class projects, offer personalized critiques, and showcase their work in campus exhibitions – all while continuing their own studio practice. It's an unparalleled opportunity for students to connect with professional artists, their work, and their perspectives, inspiring them to explore their own creative abilities and where their artistic pursuits might take them.
