where  young minds thrive

In Webb’s Lower School, students are empowered to think boldly, explore deeply, and build a strong academic foundation – all within a joyful, nurturing environment. Our classrooms are alive with curiosity, creativity, and connection, guided by a spirit that celebrates each child’s unique potential. Young learners engage in hands-on science experiments, grow confident in reading and math, and develop the habits of critical thinking and working together. With the right mix of challenge and support, students thrive both academically and personally.

moments that make a difference

Learning in Webb’s Lower School is anything but one-size-fits-all. Our teachers meet each student right where they are – nurturing strengths, addressing needs, and guiding growth with heart – in an environment where children feel recognized, respected, and valued every day.  With expertise in early childhood education and a deep commitment to every student’s journey, teachers bring to life vibrant learning spaces where joy and discovery go hand in hand.

Knowing that the right support makes all the difference, our Lower School educators skillfully balance structure with warmth and encouragement with challenge. They model kindness, ignite imagination, and help young learners build the habits and mindsets that will carry them forward with courage, care, and a lifelong love of learning.

specials that spark

In addition to core academics, Lower School students take part in a broad range of special area classes that add depth and variety to their school day. Through music, art, technology, library, Spanish, and more, they experience different modes of learning and expression – unlocking new ways to think, communicate, and connect.

growing leaders

We believe students don’t have to wait to make a difference – they just need the chance. In our Lower School, those opportunities are part of everyday life, empowering children to grow into confident, capable, and compassionate leaders.

Whether mentoring a younger student, working alongside peers, or speaking to an audience, our students begin to discover what it means to lead with empathy, courage, and respect. Through impactful, developmentally appropriate experiences, they gain essential, world-ready skills, such as active listening, strategic thinking, and taking initiative.

As our students grow, so does their sense of self and purpose. Every moment helps shape a foundation of character and responsibility, preparing them not only for their next steps at Webb but also for the positive contributions they’ll make throughout their lives.

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

  • Reading Buddies: Older students read aloud together with their younger peers each week, building literacy skills, confidence, and friendships.
  • FAMILIES Program: Students across grades meet regularly in faculty-led groups to foster connection, leadership, and school spirit through service and team-building activities.

  • Fifth Grade Mentors: Upper-grade students model leadership and support for our PreK Junior Spartans.

  • Student Council: Elected representatives coordinate service projects and oversee school events.

  • Leadership Speaker Series: Inspiring guests provide insights and engage students in discussions on leadership, values, and other key themes.

  • Public Speaking: Students are regularly given opportunities to share their voices during assemblies and special occasions.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Strong relationships between teachers and students form the building blocks for academic growth. Our educators take the time to understand each child’s unique learning style, offering individual guidance and encouragement every step of the way. With small class sizes and a nurturing environment, students receive the personalized attention they need to thrive. In addition to the care built into every classroom, we offer a range of academic support resources designed to help students gain confidence and hone their skills.
